The definition of what a zoomable interface is seems to change from person to person, but it definitely seems like the core concept is gaining some momentum. Here's an overview (let me know about any significant resources I might have missed)...
ZUI's have been developed in several different forms...
- Apple's defunct HotSauce (MCF/browser plugin)
- UMD's Jazz (Java)
- Zomit: A Zoomable User Interface (Java)
- Nautilus Screenshots 8/2/00 (Linux/open source)
- WebMap Technologies Inc: What is WebMap™ Viewer? (Browser plugin and server/proprietary)
- 3D Zoom Menu, Customizable Flash Interface (Flash/ browser plugin)
...and have been studied in several ways...
