Surgery.
[ Posted by Dan on December 03, 2002 | 4 Comments ]

I had my gall bladder removed yesterday after having some problems with Gall Stones. I tried to take notice of the experience while going thru the process, and I have to say it wasn't that bad and pretty direct. At the core, there was a process, step by step that made sense.

It was a shock though to wake up in recovery after the surgery. I've had general anesthetic before and recall the process of passing out, but the process yesterday was different and I wasn't told when I'd be dropping off into la la land. I would have preferred to have known what was going to happen next and how many more steps there were to go, just the same as the checkouts process at Amazon dot com.

I'll be using the downtime this week to work on a redesign of this site. suggestions are welcome. I also hope to pick up the pace on postings which have been kind of sparse over the last few weeks.

Sorry to hear about the surgery. I am sure that some pain led up to it as well. My brother just had that and it was none too fun.

Last time I was put under for a knee surgery they were pretty good about telling me what would happen at each stage.

Though once the drugs kicked in I started picturing myself as a bear they were trying to tranquilize and I thought it would be really funny to run down the halls while they tried to shoot me with another dart. Luckily I couldn't stand up by then.

Hehehehe, I didn't even have a chance to run. I was pretty much fooled into unconciousness when they said they were giving me a mild sedative which turned out to be the knock out punch.

I expected to be asked to count backwards from 100 which would tell me that I was about to go out. Not this time. I woke up in the recovery room with a feeling of annoyance in addition to the shock of being done so quickly.

Anyway, back to redesign work.

hmm. I had my wisdom teeth removed recently, they hunted for a vein, and finally found one. I asked them... "how long will it take me to pass out."

They replied "oh, right about"

and presumably said "now" -- but the next thing I recall was trying to walk with one person on each side steadying me.... wasn't quite conscious til I got into the car to go home.

Good luck with the redesign!

I'm glad to see your surgery went well. However my wife has been is the hospital since last Tuesday, I'm really worried, since they said she would be out last Wednesday so much for advanced medicine.

They can't find anything wrong, and she is NPO, these doctors really don't have a clue and I think they left something behind and droped a stone or two, they have no clue, nor do I.

Very concerned husband.

Comment posting has been turned off because I don't have enough time and will to deal with the constant comment spamming. I'm very sorry and will fix this sometime soon (soon = before 2004 ends).
