Great Falls Desktop.

I went to Great Falls, VA over the weekend, and managed to snap of one good picture of the falls (see below). Most of the drops you see are like ten feet, and the water is pretty high right now. If you can belive it, people kayak down this set of falls. I've made a few versions of the image available suitable for use on your desktop... great_falls_640_480.jpg

no 2304x852 panorama?
That's ok I guess. I use a bmp file in the same color as the default Win2K blue, with this image in the middle of the right-hand monitor:

(I also have the lithograph hanging on my wall at home)

Nice photo. So you're saying that the little fall in front there is 10 feet, or most falls in a long stretch of falls are 10 feet but you didn't photograph the taller ones?

If it's as tall as it looks (2 or 3 feet tops) I can well imagine kayakers using it. We have a manmade whitewater course out here built for kayakers to train for the olympics.. I've seen those people, they're insane. :-)

Correct, that photo doesn't include the large main spout of Great Falls (which is to the left of the photo).

This picture shows someone going down the right hand side of the photo, behind the large out cropping. You'll be able to get a better sense of scale from these pictures (which were taken at a time when the water level was a bit lower).

Comment posting has been turned off because I don't have enough time and will to deal with the constant comment spamming. I'm very sorry and will fix this sometime soon (soon = before 2004 ends).
